The last of the lettuce's

We have been eating so many lettuce's from our garden ,that I'm sort of sad we just harvested the last of them today ,so i brought them in and pulled them apart to wash in a sink full of water then they drains on a clean tea towel before being put in to a container and it keeps quite well (a lot better than supermarket lettuce that's for sure)

Also we harvested our first round zucchini with loads more growing , and a couple of weeks ago we  planted some black jack ones (i think that's what they were called) so we will be eating zucchini's to the cows come in over the coming months!!!

I'll be on the look out for Zucchini recipes that's for sure so if you guys have any recipes please feel free to share :-)

A CHEEKY LITTLE GIRL...

Hello Hope you are all healthy and well , and i hope you all had a great Christmas and that 2012 is a good one for you all xx

Well summer has kicked in and boy is it warmish ... so dang warm that I'm spending more time watering the garden than anything else , so off to get some pea straw or (straw pea as miss molly calls it lol )

though why out putting it around the vegetables the other night , molly was in her nightdress and yes gumboots helping , asking us what our names were and when we answer daddy or mummy she would be just a wee bit cheeky and say Heidi or Wayne lol any how i was busy snapping away and as she walked of i snapped a beauties a very cheeky photo ,, so cheeky I'm going to share it and please don't ask me were her nickers were !!!!!

From the garden...

wow the first of the potatoes are ready yay it's all so exciting the first time you harvest or grow goodies in the garden .. and yes i still have loads of these round green things ..iv been using them up in different dishes my 10 year old recons they taste like potato in the curry last night lol who knows they taste like zucchini to me ;-) any way shame to waste them so I'll keep using them up ....

Of the subject of veggies why uploading these pictures there was this on there that i never took though i know it was taking while cooking dinner because the girls were playing dress ups hmmm cheeky little monkey's id say helping there self's to my camera lol

Hmmm What is it ?

well i decided to cut open this vegetable that was growing ,it said zucchini when i planted it or them ,,but it grew in to a round ball so i posted about it and as some of you guys know and helped me to identified it as maby a gem squash ... then i had someone say no its a new variety of zucchini they have been out for about 12 months ?

then just this past Sunday i spotted them at the market and sure enough it said round zucchini's .hmmm so i cut one open ,and i also cut a zucchini open and they both smelt the same but yet a very different sooo is it a squash or a round zucchini ? I'm confused anyhow thought id just share all that with you guys ...sure hope i haven't confused you guys to ;-o

garden up date ..

Out in the garden my zucchini's that have turned out to be squash are growing ,,how do i know when to take them of the vines ? I'm new to this growing business... and i spotted my first capsicum ,there is plenty of buds all over the plants so I'm hoping they do well .. i really don't like paying $10 a kilo and its something we eat a lot of.. and I'm still getting tomatoes i for got to take pictures of them ...

HELP!!!

Oh my what has happen here for these zucchini's to grow like this i thought they were meant to grow long not round like little pumpkins

and I'm not sure why this has happen this is our first season of growing fresh produce ....has this happen to anyone else before ? id love to hear back from some veggie growers , as all the zucchini's have grown like this :-(

morning in the sun !

oops not all our seedlings grew hmmmm not sure why ..I'm new to all this tho some are growing the ENDIVE ,ROCKET,CORIANDER,CHIVES but for the rest it's a no go .so i will plant some new ones and see how i go .... in the mean time i brought 2 tomatoes plants so my little helper and i went out and planted them in to pots to see how they do fingers crossed ;-) tho i will be needing more than 2 plants i wont to make relish when they are all grown so i will have to put in a fair few plants in to the garden ...as well as other plants i do wont some produce this year so to speak but i will keep trying with the seeds as well .....

 i wounder if she thinks bye watching them they may grow faster lol it was just a thought ;-)
