The last of the lettuce's

We have been eating so many lettuce's from our garden ,that I'm sort of sad we just harvested the last of them today ,so i brought them in and pulled them apart to wash in a sink full of water then they drains on a clean tea towel before being put in to a container and it keeps quite well (a lot better than supermarket lettuce that's for sure)
Also we harvested our first round zucchini with loads more growing , and a couple of weeks ago we  planted some black jack ones (i think that's what they were called) so we will be eating zucchini's to the cows come in over the coming months!!!
I'll be on the look out for Zucchini recipes that's for sure so if you guys have any recipes please feel free to share :-)

  1. Fresh produce at this time of the year sounds amazing. I used to make zucchini jelly. It was made with jello and shredded zucchini and was surprisingly good.

  2. Mmmm, mmmm, looks delicious! I love to just sit and eat lettuce. I could eat a whole head of it. It's so tasty. I don't however, eat zucchini. I have eaten zucchini bread only because my friend begged me and said you really can't taste the zucchini and she was right. The bread was really good, kinda like a cinnamon spice bread but I don't have the recipe. I have seen it online though. You could probably do an internet search for it. Other than that, I have nothing for you. Enjoy all that veggie goodness~

  3. Thanks for becoming a follower on my blog. :) Your lettuce looks great. It will be a few months before we can plant any here.

Our favorite way to eat zucchini is to slice it and dip it in beaten egg, then flour, then pan fry until golden. Not the healthiest way, I guess, but we love it. I also like to cut it up into chunks, add diced onion, diced fresh tomato and maybe diced bell peppers. Add a little basil or oregano, salt and pepper, the stir-fry it all in a bit of olive oil. top with just a little bit of cheese (almost any kind will work) and serve as a side dish or even a main dish over rice.

I've made the jelly and the bread like the other ladies suggested, too.
