Crunchy Topped Apple cake ..

2 cups of self-raising flour
1/2 cup wholemeal flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg grated
1 cup sugar
185g Butter melted
1/2 cup water
3 eggs lightly whisked
4 small to medium apples peeled and sliced
place whole meal flour in bowl ,sift other dry ingredients
then add wet ingredients mix then add apples put in to greased tin
60g melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg grated
pour over cake mixture , then bake at 180c for 11/4 hours ... yum
as you can tell the picture is only part of the cake lets just say bye the time the hungry tribe
had finished this was put away for afternoon tea tomorrow (if it last that long ;-) the smell that was coming
out of my kitchen was just pure delight !!!


  1. I will have to do some converting, but this looks great! One question - what is the equivalent of "wholemeal flour"?

    I like this type of cake, we call them coffee cakes. Yes - yum!

  2. hi sharon 1/2 cup of wholemeal flour would be 125g in Australian messurements you can use selfraising wholemeal to ..or any flour im guessing ..the cake is just so moist and yum lol it goes nice on its own or with whipped cream ,i guess you could put it with warm custard to :-)
